Earthquake Early Warning Systems
Deploy a functioning EEW system in months, not decades — at a fraction of the cost of traditional infrastructure.
The fastest path to a national EEW system
Building earthquake early warning infrastructure used to take decades and hundreds of millions of dollars. Grillo changes that.
Our system — deployed in Mexico, Puerto Rico, and now Haiti — is less than 10% the cost of traditional EEW and can be operational in months. Grillo Pulse sensors installed along active fault lines feed real-time data to Grillo Cloud, where SISTEM's machine learning detects earthquakes and triggers mobile alerts before shaking arrives.
Haiti's EEW system — the first in the Caribbean — was built with Grillo in partnership with UNDP, Digicel, and AWS. 100 sensors. 6 months. A functioning prototype protecting millions.
How it works
Deploy Grillo Pulse sensors
Solar-powered Pulse sensors are installed along active fault lines. No external power or internet infrastructure needed — each unit is self-contained with LTE connectivity and GPS timing.
SISTEM detects the event
Real-time seismic data streams to Grillo Cloud. SISTEM's machine learning detects the P-wave signature and calculates magnitude and location within seconds of an earthquake starting.
Alerts reach people in time
Warnings are distributed via mobile networks, apps, or connected devices — giving people seconds to take cover before destructive shaking arrives. Every second matters.
Independently validated
Researchers from the Czech Academy of Sciences, USGS, and University of Oregon published an independent evaluation of Grillo sensors in Seismological Research Letters (2024) — confirming accuracy and performance. Grillo has also outperformed Mexico's government EEW system (SASMEX) in head-to-head detection speed tests.
